Research in Homeopathy

“While homeopathy itself is a perfect science, its truth is only partially known. The truth relates to the Divine, the knowledge relates to man. When homeopathy is hundreds of years old, and children grow up into the knowledge of it and observe and practice it, our successors will acquire knowledge that we do not possess now”

(Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy by J.T. Kent)

During the course students have the opportunity to study research methods in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and find out about current research in homeopathy. With a generalised move across Europe towards increased professionalisation of all forms of CAM there is an ever-growing requirement to provide evidence for our practice. People are often unaware that there is in fact already a substantial evidence base for the practice of homeopathy. In the UK it has been identified by the House of Lords as one of the ‘big five’ forms of CAM along with acupuncture, herbal medicine, chiropractic and osteopathy. This being so because these five forms of CAM stand out from all others as they offer a discreet medical practice that already have a notable evidence base.

Homeopathy research is currently being carried out all over the world into many different aspects of practice. For a downloadable document that outlines some existing clinical research please click here (link to PDF File 105 kb)

Homeopaths are often criticised for using highly diluted medicines which some contend are too dilute to have an effect. However research into the properties an effects of ultra high dilutions is being carried out by scientists all over the world quite independently of homeopathy.

There are many websites that carry information about research in homeopathy. Check the links page to access more information about this topic.
